Helios Iapetus Walks

After several months of work, blood, sweat and beers Helios Iapetus Walks.

i still have some small things to do. I don't think you are ever really finished. I have some more decal work, my second head, base, additional weapons....etc to do. But this is as close to done on the model as I can official say he is ready for a proper Walk.

Introduction: Helios Iapetus, the "Sun Piercer" of Legio Tempestus.

Walk me closer, I want to hit them with my sword

A little work on the crew. I really like the FW Princeps but I've been sitting on this model for years and absolutely love him. He is perfect for the "Sun Piercer".

It does make the head a tad heavy and I have some painting cleanup but there is my crew.

Limited skill set

Using my iPad and a limited photo editing skill set I was messing around for a legion icon.  This is the general direction I was going......thoughts?

Playing catch up

After having a few very busy weeks or work followed by a few weeks of a chest cold I've finally gotten some work done.

Other than the inner/outer shoulder pads (which I have something special planned) I have all the plates based.  Still adding decals, need to seal and weather.

The shield with the checkers shows the battle honors won by the Titan and Princeps. I will add a few more. The weapon plates I will add kill mark's as he played in battles. The four represents the last Apoc game.

Still trying to come up with a Legio decal. The one on the Internet does nor shrink well for printing.

Riders on the Storm

Not much progress since my last but this time I'm posting a question.  I'm still working out what to do with the shoulder pads. I'm leaving the center pad grey for decals but the inner and outer pads I had an idea.

Since this Titan is a member of the "Stormlords" I was thinking of a lighting storm airbrushed on. Maybe some dark clouds and lighting streaking down.

This will give it a little character I think.

Thoughts?

A weekends worth of work.

Work continues. This weekend I had a huge amount of time I was able to use in working on my Warlord. Still trying to figure out how the shoulder pads will be done and there is plenty of detail work.

She walked in through the outdoor

Starting some of the smaller details. I wanted to do sometimes different with the rear crew hatch. It's not as even as I had hoped but over all not bad. Once the rails are up and I have my Engineseer in place it will all blend in nicely.

From the bottom to the top

Using the same checkered method I used on my Reaver and the "gravy" weathering method I am slowly making progress.  I decided to JB the lower leg armor instead of magnets, there was just no easy way to make it work.  The under leg pads were somewhat warped and I did my best to straighten them up, luckily they are covered with the over pad. I still have some pigment powders to use and general weathering.

I will work my way up.

To much?

When I get an idea I just can't let it go.  At least if it doesn't work out I can glue them in place as the magnets hold then still.

Never done building

Just when I thought I was in the final stages I had an idea. Dangerous I know.  Someone on the Titan Owners Club had done their Warlord with magnets on the armor plates. This is convenient for travel and painting. I am not going to match magnet to magnet but magnet to metal siding cut to size and shape ... yep, I can do that. The hold is good with the four magnets.

Straight up stolen

I love community. I was doing some work today and came back across Drakes Warlord on www.titanownersclub.com and saw how he did his "gunk" for they oil grime and to deepen colors.

What a nerve wrecking thing to do but what an effect.  After coating some of the painted parts in floor wax I mixed up some Winton oils, burnt umber and ivory black with some spirits into a gravy consistency. Fully coated the bits, hit with a heat gun till dryish and buffed with an old tshirt.

I think I might switch the black for something not has harsh for the larger plates but the effect is good on the legs and head.
